Old Soul, Young Heart

Wedding Wednesday I did some craftin' this weekend (while listening to the "Cocktail Hour" mix that I've created). I still feel as though it's a little early to be working on all the small projects that I have, but I'm bored right now and I'm sure I'll be thanking myself later for doing these things now before I have so many things to think about and work on. I was at a standstill with the invitations because I was waiting for the paper to go on sale at Hob Lob, so this is what I did instead. Expect to see this goodies in some capacity on 09.22.12! These are pomander balls and  the colors are more  pretty in person. I'm going for the ombre look. Not done yet, clearly! The flower girl dresses are going to work! Yahoo!!! Halloween is probably my favorite holiday, but for some reason I just haven't been into it this year. I think I just have way too many other things occupying my brain lately and usually it seems I get all excited for nothing anyway. I had my first hearing as a University Hearing Panelist this week. I was actually really nervous for it. Basically we ask questions to students that are "charged" with disobeying the Student Code of Conduct--things like the alcohol policy or disorderly conduct. We then decide if they were in violation and what sanctions they should be given if they were. I take it very seriously, both because what we decide is on a student's record and because I think it's really important that they learn from what they did (if they did it). I got $550 worth of pounds for England today from our family friend, Pam, who was able to exchange the money without a fee at her bank. (The money is so beautiful, by the way. Way better than dollar bills. I think the 20£ bill is my favorite, though. Purple, of course.) It's almost like every day now something is happening to make this thing feel even more real. Lately these "things" have been detailed emails from John (supervisor at Cambridge DRC) about my project there and Carrie (who I will live with) about myself, her family, and Cambridge. It's so exciting--I can hardly stand it! I'm not sure if I really want to count down the time I have left at BroMenn or the time until I leave, but... I have 25 working days left at BroMenn and 47 days until I fly to London! The time will go super fast and I realize that. My $1700 tax return is coming at just the right time. The perfect amount too--just exactly enough to cover the cost of the 2 week trip in England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. Spectacular! I'm nervous about the meeting on February 12 to get biometics taken in Naperville for my visa. I still don't quite understand the process; is this meeting when I get approved/denied or am I only getting my fingerprints and eyeball scanned? I know that I have to send everything to the British Consulate in Chicago after I'm done, but I'm not sure what that means. Will they then approve/deny me? My feeling is once I send everything in, I will get approved/denied. So if that's the case, I guess I'll have the visa by the end of February. There's no reason I wouldn't be approved, I know that.
