Marriage Monday - Arrival and Entrance to Reception

Image
Late again. Sorry! We got to Eastland Suites and had a pic with the limo. (Woot!) Then we lined up outside of the double doors and awaited our entrance into the reception.  It was nice to be in the little lobby area for a minute because they were playing our pre-determined cocktail hour songs. (Well, duh!) But it just felt fun because it was actually happening. After choosing the songs and figuring out in what order they should be played and putting them on a cd, they were actually being played. And I said to Philip, "Awe... it's this song. This is such a good song." And the reception was about to start. After so much planning, the party was happening. And then all of a sudden I heard the intro to the song "Celebrate Good Times" and for a moment I freaked out. I said, "This isn't the right song!" And the wedding coordinator at Eastland Suites calmed me down by saying, "No, no... he's just trying to get everyone's attent...

Yesterday's List (Day 24): I Am Famous For... Loving chocolate Traveling? I don't know what else. I don't like this list. Today's List (Day 25): Top 5 Most Played in iTunes This list actually surprised me. I've never looked at it before! "Mama's Song" by Carrie Underwood "Boy With a Coin" by Iron & Wine "Two is Better Than One" by Boys Like Girls featuring Taylor Swift "Bulletproof" by La Roux "Empire State of Mind" by Jay-Z featuring Alicia Keys
Have you all seen Breaking Dawn: Part I ? The whole Twilight saga is one of my guilty pleasures because I realize how ridiculous it is. I drag Philip to see them with me in the theater. The story lines aren't that great (though I couldn't come up with anything better) and the acting could definitely be improved upon (though it's getting better). The one thing I will credit the movie franchise with is good song choices. Listen to this song and maybe even look up the lyrics to it. It's in Breaking Dawn and is the perfect song for where it shows up in the movie. It is beautiful. I wanted so badly to have this song that I bought the whole Breaking Dawn soundtrack because I couldn't buy the individual song. It makes me cry because of its beauty.

I want to walk down the aisle to this song. We're having a piano/violin duet and I think this is a good representation of what it will sound like. Really only the first 1:10 is how long I'd be walking. (The video must be pictures of the guy playing violin, so don't watch it. Do something else while listening.) Every time I listen to Canon in D, I get a little choked up, but I just can't picture myself walking to that song. This song is by Switchfoot (a few months ago I posted the link to their version) and is featured in the movie A Walk to Remember . I love that movie and the song has such emotional connotations for me, for one--the movie itself is just happy and sad, and two--my mom and I always loved this song since we heard it the first time. I start crying every time I listen to it. There will be very few people that probably recognize the song if we use it when I walk down the aisle. I'm not sure if this matters to me because I love the song so much and...
It's crazy how some songs just always bring up certain memories for you. I was in 3rd grade when this song came out; I was like 8 or 9 years old. I still love it and I still picture myself in the backseat of my dad's orange 1938 Chevy as we're driving to Columbus, Ohio for a national hot rod show in the summer. I listened to this cassette on my Walkman repeatedly during that six hour drive. I don't know what it was about this song back then; it's not catchy, but it's actually quite beautiful, I think. A small part of my heart is reserved for the old country music that I grew up on. Don't mind the first 30 seconds or so. The audio isn't that great. Bear with me! Also, Wynonna reminds me of my mom, minus the crazy red hair. It's amazing how similar their faces are.

I'm being nerdy tonight. But I've listened to this song like four times, crying the whole time. It's happy and sad at the same time and really pretty. It makes me think about life and how complicated yet simple it is.
Today's List (Day 4): Today's Playlist Well, I don't/can't really listen to music while I'm at work, but if I did it would be my Dario Marianelli Pandora station, which essentially plays songs from movie scores and I love love love it! (I'm on break right now, so I decided to start playing it and so far I've heard songs from The Hours and Edward Scissorhands . The best!) Other than that, tonight while I'm driving to Philip's, I'll be listening to the dubstep mix that he made for me. -------------------- I've had to laugh the past few days because I've had a few students that think they are the bomb diggity, as it were. The one yesterday had aspirations to go to an Ivy League university, which is great, but he was very condescending to me and I'm not sure why. Because I work at a community college? Well, sorry to break it to ya, buddy, but you're going to be attending one... for now, anyway! The student today place...

I'm not generally a fan of Katy Perry. In fact, I think she doesn't have much talent. I do like this song, though. It's pretty and fun to sing. I could have a whole other blog entry, though, on the Cinderella-complex. (I'm not sure if the Cinderella-complex is actually anything; I just made it up. I'm sure you can tell what I mean by it from the content of this song.) Also, this isn't the music video for it or anything. Some person just created it, I think. Enjoy! (Or not.)

I don't know... I just wanted to post this song. It's called "I Am" by the band Further Seems Forever. It reminds me of the summer before I met Philip. In fact, I talked about this album  and song in one of my speeches during COM101--about how it could be about a significant other or about God/Jesus. Everything about it reminds me of how God might feel in relation to us. It could go so many ways. Like, people blame God for a lot of things in their lives. God can be good and God can be bad, depending upon where you're at in your life, your opinion at the time, or what you've decided about God. God could be a source of freedom or a source of restriction. God could be a source of life or a source of death or somewhere in between, perhaps a source of endurance. Maybe it's saying that God is all of these things at once, or none of these things. Despite all of this, God just wants a relationship with you--regardless of what you think or believe. I also think t...
I just read over the majority of my blog posts from this year... ya know, to kind of reminisce about what's happened, seeing as it's New Year's Eve. That's why I love having this thing; I'm able to go back and see what happened and what I have considered and learned this past year. It's just fun. Clearly, the majority of what I wrote about was the journey to and at Cambridge. I'm happy that I cataloged all of that. (I think if I do a scrapbook of my time there I'm going to include some of my blog entries about it. It will be a useful tool if I decide to do that.) My journey there included much amazement that it was actually happening and I think I still feel that way. I can't believe that I was actually there and did that. I wonder if I'll always feel that way. I wrote a list of the things I wanted to do while I was there in my March 21 entry. Here it is in full, with the things I did do bolded. Things I need to go/see in England: - Burghl...
I always say that I don't generally like country music, but I just seem to like Carrie Underwood. I think she's so talented and I never can find a part that I don't like in songs that she writes. She also just seems nice and down-to-earth; she's also beautiful and has good style. So anyway... I've been listening to this song all day and crying the whole time, for many obvious reasons. Enjoy.
