I have a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks! This weekend I get to see my good friend Michele, who I will ask to be my maid of honor. I hope she says yes. There's no reason why she wouldn't, other than she'll be across the country--which is a real possibility. Right now she's back in central Illinois from Washington D.C., where she's doing an internship. I wish I got to see her more often because she really is one of my best friends, but alas, life takes her lots of places. On Monday I'm taking the day off and going to Chicago with my aunt Peggy to do our annual Christmas shopping trip at Water Tower Place. Really we only go to eat lunch at Cheesecake Factory (red velvet cheesecake--to die for!) and get exuberant amounts of Garrett's Popcorn to give as gifts. Today's List (Day 19): Inventions I Wish Were Real 1. Hermione's Time Turner. 2. Food that burns calories (ha!). 3. A teleporter? The end of another week. I'm always so amazed at how quickly the days and weeks fly by. I mean, it's already mid-August. Insanity! Tonight after work I went on a bit of a shopping spree, but I got the best deals ever . I found a cute top that was on clearance for $12.99 at JCPenney, but I also had a $10 off any purchase coupon, so I got a $40 top for $3.00. Then I went to Kohl's and found some black patent high heels on clearance for $11.99 (from $59.99). I also had a $10 off any purchase coupon there too, so I got $60 shoes for literally $2.00. It was crazy! I got $100 worth of merchandise for $5! I was so proud of myself for bargain shopping. Today's List (Day 13): DIYs I Want to Try I guess my answers have been kind of lame lately, but I'm honestly not really a DIY type of person. I suppose I might be someday when I'm bored and feel the need to work on a project for fun or if I have wedding-related things that I feel I could create cheaper than I could buy. There are a lot of things on Pinterest that look fun and easy to do, but there's no reason for me to do those things right now and I really have no interest in doing them either. Today's List (Day 5): Weekend Goals Weekend's halfway over, but... Sleep in Spend time with my boyfriend Celebrate me and my uncle's birthday with my family Maaaybe clean a little :P Not stress over my upcoming phone interview -------------------- I think I'm done shopping at the mall. For one, the clientele is becoming a little sketchy. Okay, maybe a little more than a little. I almost don't feel comfortable being there at times. The problem might also be that I'm just not feeling the current fashions; I couldn't find anything that I liked. I have a little disposable income right now and I wanted to buy some cute clothes, but I didn't see anything that I wanted! This is strange for me. Maybe I'm becoming more picky or maybe there is just nothing out right now or maybe my expectations are high since I can basically find anything and everything I want on the internet. I had two disappointments while at the mall this evening. The first was my "snack size" purchase of spiced pecans at the Bavarian nut counter. I must say that their "snack size" has been severely downsized from last year. I paid $2.50 for about a big handful of spiced pecans. Rip off. The other was more than a disappointment. It was more of a pissed-off-to-the-point-of-wanting-to-call-the-company-and-complain experience. I had bought something at Spencer's. I haven't bought anything in there for about 8 years, let alone stepped foot in the store. Don't ask why I did it this time--I was literally checking every store in the mall for this thing I wanted to buy. Anyway, I bought the thing, but about 15 minutes later was having regret about it, so I took it back. First, the guy was telling me that they don't allow returns on the thing I wanted to take back. I kindly said, "But I was in here like, 15 minutes ago." He said he remembered me and ...
My second favorite time of year (after the 4th of July and tied with Christmas) is finally here... fall! I've been burning my favorite candle (Fall Festival from Yankee) up until this morning when I sadly realized that the wick was too short to burn anymore even though there was wax left in the jar. I quickly went to the Yankee Candle store to replace it, only to find out that the scent has been discontinued! I had figured as much, since I had bought the candle probably four years ago. After deliberation, I went with Vanilla Pumpkin, which is similar but not quite the same. It'll do! I bought the tumbler size (which has two wicks) instead of a jar and it seems to be burning more evenly, so hopefully I won't have the issue that I came across this morning. This weekend I am reading roughly 380 pages (an entire book) for class on Monday. The book is actually good and interesting, which is helpful... but 380 pages?!
