Marriage Monday - Getting Ready (Me!)

Image
I skipped last week's Marriage Monday because I wasn't in the mood and was seriously lacking the motivation... Like I said in the previous week's Marriage Monday, I was very calm the morning of the wedding. Our photographer and videographer commented several times that I was one of the calmest brides they had ever been around haha. My aunt and I went to get the flowers, we hung out while the others were getting their hair done, and all of a sudden it was 11:01. And I looked at the clock beside the bed and said... "Oh my god--I'm supposed to be at Fox and Hound's right now for my makeup appointment!" I just could not believe that I did that! I never forget about things like that. I grabbed my aunt and we sped away. I called F&H on the way there; luckily we were only like 15 minutes late and the girl doing my makeup was running behind anyway. We even got done earlier than I had anticipated. (Sidenote: The trial for my makeup was not good. ...
Centerpiece saga: Simple Elegance finally called me back on Wednesday (after I posted last week's Wedding Wednesday). I emailed back and forth with a girl there about what I'm looking for, but haven't heard from her since last Thursday. I randomly got an email from I Do Events, so if they're more responsive, I'm going to go with them instead! My aunt and I took my dad to Men's Wearhouse on Saturday because he's in dire need of a new suit. My pops is a big guy, so I was concerned that we wouldn't find something to suit him (ha!), but we found two that will possibly work. They are ordering one into the store in his size so that we can compare the two different options and choose one. Finally heard back from the musician ( Heart Strings ) for the ceremony after giving her a call at home. We met on Monday and I have to say that I am unimpressed by this person's professionalism. I feel as though I am generally not too demanding of customer service, but ...
Okay... I AM SO EXCITED. But first things first... On Monday I went to Fox and Hound's with the intent of getting my normal chemical straightener, but she talked me into doing a Brazilian Blowout. (Weird name, I know.) I had heard of BB before, but mostly bad things like it having formaldehyde, which is really bad for both the stylist and the customer... like, it causes cancer. I asked the stylist, though, and she said that they did testing on it and it's not true. (I'm not really sure if I believe this 100%. My general feeling is that anything so full of chemicals has to be bad for humans somehow.) There's so much hype about this straightener being so good, though, that I just wanted to try it, so I did. I must admit that it's pretty good. It takes me like 6 minutes to blowdry my hair now and it's pretty much straight without having to do anything else. There are a few spots that she probably could've added more product to because it's not as straig...
I've decided that I no longer like myself with long hair. I may feel this way because it seems as though my hair has been in the in-between short/long phase for like... ever. I don't like it at medium length, I know that much. I think that having this length of hair makes my head look even smaller than it actually is and I have a pretty small noggin. I'm not going to cut it short again for awhile, though. I need to have something to work with should I be planning some sort of event that requires me to look glamorous in the coming year. After that, though, Imma probably hack it back off.
I hate my hair right now. Hate. I am usually neutral about it, but right now I dislike it greatly. It's too curly and not long enough. I'm really trying to embrace the curl, but it is difficult. I could possibly like it if it weren't so curly. I could possibly also like it if it weren't inbetween short and long. Really I just need some solution to the curly around my face because that's the real issue. K... enough ridiculous pettiness.

My hair is getting so long and it makes me so happy! This is my rocking-out-to-JT face. :D
A few days ago I started to write this post about how it seems like three issues are constantly being blasted everywhere lately. (And when I say everywhere, I mean on facebook.) I was going to talk about how I think those who dislike Spanish-speakers and those who are fanatical about having guns and those who oppose the mosque near ground zero are all fearful bigots who essentially dislike anyone who is different from them and are generally mistrusting of other human beings. I'm over it, though, for now. I realize those words are strong and I may or may not feel that way, but the passion's gone, so I'm not going to pursue it. Life is semi-crazy right now, as I predicted. I survived the first week of being a full-time grad student and it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. The schedule is nuts--don't get me wrong--but the content is actually fun and interesting. Work at the Accommodations Office is going well. I'm doing lots of student training which makes ...
I just got done scouring my head for gray hairs. I do this every once in a while. It really freaks me out how quickly they can appear--literally out of nowhere. It also scares me how many I find and how often I find them. I started seeing them when I turned 24. 24!!! I really need to come to terms with the fact that I will continue to get older. It'll do not good things to my body and my mind if I keep fighting it. In other news, today I met my "CSPA buddy," Sarah. She's great. Ryan did a good job matching us up, I think, because it seems like we have similar personalities. I felt kind of idiotic, though, after I left. I think that when I meet new people, especially those who are close to me in age, I feel pressure because I want them to like me. I realize how silly it is to feel that way at this age, but I was just saying things that sounded stupid and I wish that I would take a moment to choose my words more wisely in situations like that. I'll have to kee...
