Old Soul, Young Heart

So... new layout! I think it's super cute. It took some of my html skills to get it exactly how I wanted it and it looks pretty good, I think. I'm sad, though, because something must've happened to all the pics I had on this blog when I switched over to my new name. All of them come up blank now, which is really annoying to me, but I'm gonna just let it go. Let. It. Go. This morning we had a Halloween brunch at work. Typically I don't make anything for these extravaganzas, but I was feeling sort of guilty about always eating and never bringing, so I decided to make something. Pumpkin coffeecake! I saw it on Pinterest; you can find the recipe  here . It was delicious and easy to make! And when I say it's easy, it's easy. (I don't have any cooking/baking skills yet. I legit just made my first grilled cheese last night. And this was my first coffeecake!)

The title of my blog has been "Old Soul, Young Heart" for as long as I've had it, which is now over 3.5 years. (Wow--I can't believe it's been that long! I'm pretty sure I'm calculating that right, anyhow!) I like the title, because I really do think it represents me. At the same time, though, I think it's pretty cheesy and I've always felt that way. I'm very uncreative at thinking of titles and catchphrases and so when that name came to me, I went with it. Lately I've been feeling like I want to change it, though. To what? I have no idea. I have a lot of friends that have "The Adventures of..." as their blog title and I think that's cute and pretty true, as well. I need to do some perusing of the internet to see if I can steal someone's title for myself. Maybe some changes will be coming soon!

I just read over the majority of my blog posts from this year... ya know, to kind of reminisce about what's happened, seeing as it's New Year's Eve. That's why I love having this thing; I'm able to go back and see what happened and what I have considered and learned this past year. It's just fun. Clearly, the majority of what I wrote about was the journey to and at Cambridge. I'm happy that I cataloged all of that. (I think if I do a scrapbook of my time there I'm going to include some of my blog entries about it. It will be a useful tool if I decide to do that.) My journey there included much amazement that it was actually happening and I think I still feel that way. I can't believe that I was actually there and did that. I wonder if I'll always feel that way. I wrote a list of the things I wanted to do while I was there in my March 21 entry. Here it is in full, with the things I did do bolded. Well, you'll notice that I have a new background. I've been looking for awhile for a new one and I couldn't find one that I just loved. (We all know how picky I am about such things.) I started looking again today and found two websites that had tons that I liked... so many, in fact, that it was hard to pick one. This is rare, so I knew I had to actually change these up on here. (I had the cloud/plane background since I started writing in April 2009.) So I got this one from  Hot Bliggity Blog . The other website that had tons of cute ones was  The Cutest Blog on the Block , in case you're interested. This weekend has been fun. Friday night Philip and I went to the season opener for the Prairie Thunder. It was a good game; they won. Last night was my dad's annual wiener roast, which is always fun. Lots of family and family friends--lots of talking about what's going on with me. Today was my dad's birthday, so we had dinner at Busy Corner and ate cake...

Annoyed that blogger doesn't have a privacy setting for individual posts. When I'm in England, I want to make this blog public but I don't want everyone to see every post I've ever made. So now it seems that I have to delete those private posts, never to be recovered or rehashed again. Pretty upset about that. I've thought about moving the blog to some other sphere, but I think that blogger is the most user-friendly. O'well. It wouldn't be the first time my posts have been deleted, and I've lived through those times.

I determined today that I need some sort of creative outlet. This is what resulted. This is my first actual blog since I had a DeadJournal. DeadJournal and LiveJournal were blogs before the term "blog" even existed, I think. I wonder if there's a way to import my blog entries on MySpace since I will soon be deleting it. I've written some fairly thought-out entries in that thing and I'd be sad to lose all of that. Oh well.
