Well, I'm already behind on my lists, but I couldn't help it because the person I'm following didn't post her's until after I left for the day yesterday and I just got home from spending time with my boooyfriend.

I also went to David's Bridal (again!) yesterday so that Brooke could try on bridesmaid dresses. She chose the same one as my aunt! So all of the girls will be in the dress that I posted a couple of weeks ago. I love that dress! They all will look so beautiful and elegant--I'm so excited about it!

We also picked the flower girl dresses and it's also super cute.


I'm wondering now, though, if the style is discontinued because it kinda says that on the website. Brooke's not ordering them until June, so I guess we'll find out then? They tried on shoes and headbands and they looked so adorable!

Anywho... here are the lists!

Yesterday's List (Day 3):
Recipe for a Perfect Weekend

  • Sleeping in: Until at least 9:30, otherwise it's not considered sleeping in. But not sleeping in too late (which is like 11:30 or after), otherwise I feel unproductive!
  • Leisurely getting ready: I'm not a fan of having only a little while for getting ready, which is usually what I experience every day during the week for work because I wake up at the very last moment. It's nice just to take my time sometimes.
  • Having something to get ready for: It doesn't have to be all that special, but usually I don't like getting ready and wasting an outfit unless I'm doing something that requires going out somewhere. And sometimes it's fun to have plans.
  • Spending time with my fiance: Duh. Whatever we're doing--going out or staying in--I like to hold his hand.
  • Being lazy: I also love time to just sit around. :)

Today's List (Day 4):
Things I'll Put Off Until Tomorrow
  • Taking out the trash: I've needed to do it for like four days now. I'm so lazy. This probably won't happen tomorrow either... let's be honest.
  • Taking the recycling: The paper bin is overflowing. It's amazing how much paper you can recycle every day! 
  • Vacuuming: That bathroom always needs it. Cat litter + my hair... yeah. It's bad.
  • Doing laundry: I really can't wait until tomorrow even because I'm running out of work clothes, but oh well. Tomorrow won't be my cutest day at work ever...
  • Working out: Didn't make it there today because I was out of town, but I'll definitely be going tomorrow after work so that I can continue to be on track!

Well, I found out for sure today that my supervisor at the Accommodations Office is not leaving. I'm not gonna lie... I'm pretty bummed about it. I had sort of decided that being here for the next few years would be perfect for me. I wasn't banking on the fact that he'd leave (after all, it wasn't a fact), but I just spent a lot of time thinking about what it would be like if he did and now that he's not... well... yeah, I'm just bummed. I'm glad that I asked, though, because now I can take my job search more seriously. So the situation with the parent has been, I guess, about 75% resolved. Cecilia did some investigating and it sounds like the whole thing was pretty much pointless (the student doesn't even need the class?!). I'm annoyed and frustrated because the mother took a completely different angle with Cecilia, which probably makes me look worse. Cecilia reassured me that I did fine and that I shouldn't worry about it. I still feel awful; that mother said some very hurtful things that will probably stick with me for awhile. I still feel like crying about the whole thing. I hate feeling incompetent, but the thing that's worse is that I'm worried that Cecilia doesn't think I'm a good advisor. She doesn't know me well enough to know that I care, that I listen, and that I'm patient and understanding. All she knows is what she hears from other people and, unfortunately, this parent probably had a lot of bad things to say about me, which really just came from a pl...

20 Years Ago - NCHS Color Guard Takes Europe

I was recently reminded of our high school trip to Europe, which happened 20 years ago during this time of year--December 26, 2000 through January 3, 2001. It's wild that this event was more than half my life ago! I felt like going down memory lane and writing about the journey, so henceforth commences my first blog post of 2021, commemorating a long-ago adventure during simpler times (pre-9/11, pre-adulthood, pre-any type of responsibility). The whole music department at Normal Community High School went--marching band, color guard, choir, and orchestra--and we all had performances whilst overseas. I was 16 years old and it didn't register to me at the time how big of a deal it was. I totally took the experience for granted, but, with the proper hindsight now, I'm super grateful.
