Marriage Monday - Other Helpers
I had a lot of support throughout the wedding planning process and the day of! Besides Michele, my aunt, and my mother-in-law--who were instrumental in keeping me sane, checking in with me if I needed help, and just being there to bounce ideas off of--I also had my friends Hannah and Sheila.
Hannah and I went to grad school together and our friendship has bloomed via Facebook Chat haha. We're sad that we weren't closer during grad school. We try to be friends in real life too, but with her living in Deer Creek and working in Peoria, it can be a challenge to get together. But I think we'll friends forever! Hannah was there to listen to the woes and triumphs of the whole experience, before/during/after. She also read the reading during the ceremony and did a great job (as you can see above)!
Sheila and I went to high school together and have gotten closer since then, even. She lives in Las Vegas now, so we don't get to see each other often, but whenever she's in town, we try to get together! Sheila and I will also be friends forever. :) Sheila was another one that had to suffer through the trials and tribulations of the process. She was also willing to be sort of a logistical helper on the day of. She handed out programs and closed/open the chapel doors for me as the bride. She also stood by the guest book at the reception and made sure everyone signed it. Her role was an important one and I'm grateful to her for her help! Couldn't have done it without her. (She's on the right hand side of the photo above. I don't have any good pics of us together from the wedding, which makes me real sad.)
I'm so lucky to have such great--though few--friends. I was very intentional about asking who I asked to be a part of the wedding. Sometimes I feel like people choose folks because they feel like they need to have a certain number of people involved. I wanted to ask people who I know will be in my life for the rest of my life.
