Wedding Wednesday
- So now that everyone (for the most part) probably has their invitation, I thought I would post pics of them! I don't know if anyone cares, but I'm kinda proud of them since I designed and made them from scratch myself (well, everything but the envelopes and pocketfolds).
The assembly line. |
Wrap-around labels. We liked the black envelopes the best, so I broke the etiquette rules and printed on labels. I'm sure black envelopes for a wedding is also against the rules... |
The return address is on the flap-side of the envelopes and on the flip-side of the wrap-around labels. |
Pocketfold invitations have been done, but I still like them. |
There's the logo! Envelope ready to be sealed! |
Let's take these babies to the post office! |
- I checked with the post office again to make sure I had enough postage. I read a really bad story on Weddingbee about some girl's invitations getting returned to her due to insufficient postage, even though she had one weighed at the post office beforehand. Her envelopes were obviously ruined because the post office wrote all over them. Bad news bears. I wanted to avoid that! I'm glad I went again because the second person who weighed it told me that it was 20 cents more (85 cents instead of 65). The woman who told me 65 cents a couple weekends ago was there; she just kind of shrugged it off when I said, "But she told me that it was 65." (And yes, I pointed at her and everything. I was annoyed!) The invitations might've made it to their destination with only 65 cents in postage, but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.
Not the sexiest wedding invitation postage ever, but whatever! They got to where they needed to be. |
- I had my first fitting for my gown on Saturday! Right off the bat I was kind of sad because the woman was like, "Is anyone coming with you?" Mmmnope. Just me. I had kinda made that decision, though; I had mentioned it to my aunt, but decided that it wasn't that big of a deal for me to go by myself. But then I saw pictures that girls had sent the seamstress of them getting fitted and I wished that maybe someone was there to take a pic of me, but oh well! It was a very good experience besides that. The woman was super sweet and she's able to do the bubble hem that I wanted, so I'm really excited! It was so fun to see what the dress will actually look like when it fits me perfectly! Oh and the bustle looks so pretty. It cost just exactly what I had budgeted for (even though the amount I budgeted was the absolute most I was hoping to spend, but that's okay). I can't wait to get it back on September 8! (The alteration place is called KTE--go there if you ever need a tailor!)
- I went and talked to Janet's about how the cake will be decorated. It was fun to actually use pictures that I pinned on Pinterest for the first time. This is the pic that I took with me, so we'll see how it turns out. (The dots will be white, lavender, and our dark plum color.) I talked to my dad afterwards and now he's got me scared that we won't have enough cake for everyone, because let's be honest... my side of the family are big cake eaters! I might have to go back in and request another sheet cake.
- So my dad's been painting the candle holders that I thought I was going to use for centerpieces. They were originally black and I wanted them silver. I was using one last night to rig it up how I want it to look for the reception and the silver paint was rubbing and scratching off. I was pretty disappointed/annoyed and the more I was working on it, the more I was realizing that I don't even like the way they look anymore. Five of them aren't painted yet and I'm going to send them back if I can. Last night I was pretty upset about it--really about wasting the $100 that I already spent on the ones that are painted. I was telling Philip that I just want to take the garland I bought (and still like and want to use) to some wedding planning place and be like, "Create something using this," and just let them put it together so that I don't have to think about it anymore. That's expensive, though. I haven't been this upset and frustrated about something since trying to find a place to have the wedding/reception. :(
- I guess a state representative is also aware that we're getting married.
We got two of these on the same day? |
